Hectic Two Weeks

by Julia 4/18/2010 10:18:41 PM

Our girls have been through two pretty hectic weeks, taking turns fighting colds and being miserable. Natasha had it much harder, though. The poor girl has been fighting a nasty Chalazion (blocked oil gland) on her lower left eyelid since December, and with the help of antibiotic ointment it finally disappeared early this month. Well, about a week later (mid-April), she got yet another nasty Chalazion on her upper right eyelid this time. Sigh. The poor girl just cannot catch a break. Those things are not contagious, but they tend to spread and sometimes take months to disappear. She’s now on a new set of antibiotic eye drops and oral medication. Here’s to hoping it will be gone sooner than the first one…

On a brighter note, I am really enjoying Natasha’s new artistic skills. She’s drawing so many recognizable objects, it’s amazing! Of course, her specialty is still Thomas trains, but she’s been expanding her drawing to include other things, like this Sponge Bob art:

Her poor red eyelid can be seen here :(

Easter 2010

Easter was really fun for the girls this year. We did more than the previous years mainly because, well, they’re older and more into it. It will be even better next year.

We got them fun Easter baskets with a few fun toys & crafts. I think next year we’ll include a Veggie Tales DVD or an Easter-themed book.

We dyed eggs for the first time on the Saturday before. The girls were really into it and enjoyed every minute. The kit came with stickers which they had a blast putting on the eggs.

For Easter Sunday’s breakfast, the girls each ate 2 decorated eggs! They loved it, even Veronika ate her egg, knowing she decorated it herself.

And of course they enjoyed getting together with their family and cousins!

Holidays are so much more fun with children! It’s exciting to see it all through their eyes.

Watching Shows With New Interest

Natashenka

We’ve recently noticed that Natasha has started watching TV very differently. Before, she mainly followed the bright pictures and got excited when her favourite characters came on, but now she really follows the cartoon from start to end. She follows the story. And it’s mainly with shows like Dora; she sits and watches from start to end, and then proceeds to explain to me what Dora & Boots are up to. I think it’s because she now understands everything they say and it keeps her interest longer.

Which makes me believe she’s ready to watch her 1st movie at the theatre! We’ve never taken her before because we felt she was too young. I personally get very annoyed when people bring their small children to the theatre who talk, cry, and distract everyone else around them. But I now truly believe she’s ready and will sit through and actually enjoy the film. Maybe a 4th birthday present? Or sometime this summer for sure!

Happy 2nd Birthday to the sweetest cupcake in the world!
